I saw Shaan Hurley (@mrcadman) asked his followers, whether they already aware that: using page setup allows them to publish to different plotter. I know that we can do that, but then I’m thinking: can we send the AutoCAD sheets to different printers/plotters at once? After playing with it for a while I found that yes, we can! This is another reason why you should use AutoCAD layout!
Plot the Project (Plot Multiple Drawings at once) It is important to note, that in order to be able to plot the project using Sheet Sets, we must have set our Layouts’ page settings right when we’ve created our Sheet Set. I am looking for a solution that will convert and entire folder of DWG files to PDF files without the need for AutoCAD. We can print to PDF but that is very time consuming and we are looking for an easier solution even if it's a paid solution.
- How to publish multiple drawings to PDF in AutoCAD. You want to know how to publish multiple drawings to PDF files in AutoCAD and verticals. Solution: You can use Batch Plot to publish multiple sheets or drawings to PDF files. It can also be used for publishing to a plotter, printer, or DWF.
- Convert AutoCAD DWG to PDF in Batch Mode. To convert many drawings saved as AutoCAD DWG files into the PDF format, i.e., to provide opportunities for batch converting AutoCAD DWG to PDF, use Print Conductor software together with Universal Document Converter. Add drawings you would like to convert to the List of Documents.
Page Setup Manager
Before you can use AutoCAD batch plot, you have to set each layout to use a proper page setup.
You can define page setups in page setup manager. You can open it from AutoCAD menu> print> page setup. Or you can activate a layout, right click on layout tab and choose page setup manager from contextual menu.
Now you will see the manager dialog box opened. In some AutoCAD default templates, several page setups are already defined. But mostly not yet. We can create a new one by clicking new.
Give it appropriate name. I use A1 dwf. I want to set the paper size to A1 and I want to plot it to dwf printer.
Now I create another one: A3 pdf. I want this one go to pdf printer. You may want to give it a try to your real printer.
Don’t forget to set the AutoCAD layout to use the page setups. You need to open the layout you want to set, then open page setup manager. You should see the layout name in current layout. Below my current AutoCAD layout is Layout3.
Choose which one you want to use, then click set current. You should see the page setup name in the parenthesis.
Now you can finish the AutoCAD sheets. Add all information you need before you plot it.
Batch Plot
Now that we have several sheets (well, I only have two) we can try to plot them at once to different printers. Open from AutoCAD menu > publish. Or you can use print> batch plot.
Below, you can see that the model and layouts from my drawing. You can add more layout from other drawings too (you don’t need to open the drawings).
I think it’s very useful if you need to plot many AutoCAD sheets at once, especially if you want to do it to different printers. You probably want to print some AutoCAD drawings to A3 size printer, while the others to A1 plotter.
Below is the report of my batch plot.

Want to try it? Have fun!
Have you ever had a situation where you had 290+ drawings to print or plot all? Even more gruesome, would be to have different pencil widths and other options for each of the drawings.
If you ever fell into this, you will know the pain it feels to manually plot a large number of drawings. Fortunately enough, there is an option in AutoCAD to batch plot of your drawing at once.
Bach plot
Autodesk has the batch plot function in AutoCAD and other options in other products, such as the AEProject command in AutoCAD Electrical. With this, a widely known Visual Basic program, included in the full install of AutoCAD, going by the name of EBatchP, is another quick and easy way to get such jobs done. Additionally, scripts can be developed to handle these task, but today, we’ll focus specifically on Batch Plot in AutoCAD.

One more thing to note, is that this tutorial is developed according to AutoCAD 2016. There may be slight differences in the interface screenshots shown here compared to other version of AutoCAD.

That’s it. Quite literally. Yes, this will plot all the sheets/drawings you have selected in the same print job. Once the printing job shows success, in the bottom right corner as shown below, you can check your plotter for all the prints.
The fine print
In the case, you’ve setup different page setups, you can select the one you want for each of the sheets individually as shown below:
You can do this for multiple sheets/drawings by selecting them first, and then selecting this option.

Moreover, printing to PDF is not the default setting. The default is set to Plotter named in page setup. This will almost always result in an unsuccessful job, unless you have named a plotter in the page setup.
Side note: Looking at the image below, we see how the command prompt reads Publish. This is because batch plotting is a sub function of the publish feature.
